RM Recruit are partnering with a Shropshire based charity in the recruitment of an Interim Finance Director for their team. This c£20 million income charity requires an experienced director level accounting professional who can demonstrate experience in both strategic and operational leadership of finance teams, including full line-management responsibility—setting clear objectives and KPIs, conducting appraisals, addressing performance issues, and supporting staff development.
Duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Deliver an effective and robust financial management service for the Charity and its subsidiary, ensuring full compliance with regulatory frameworks, accounting standards, and internal governance requirements.
- Provide strategic financial leadership that underpins the Charity’s long-term sustainability, growth ambitions, and delivery of high-quality services.
- Lead the year-end audit process and produce financial statements in full compliance with FRS 102 and the Charities SORP.
- Oversee the timely production of monthly Group Management Accounts, ensuring high-quality reporting supported by insightful commentary, variance analysis, trend interpretation, and decision-focused insights for the SLT and Trustees.
- Manage all tax and VAT obligations, ensuring full legislative compliance while proactively identifying opportunities to reduce liabilities where appropriate.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of Gift Aid claims, ensuring accuracy, compliance with HMRC requirements, and maximisation of eligible income.
- Provide strong line management to the finance team, setting clear objectives, measurable KPIs, and proportionate development plans aligned with organisational priorities and values.
The successful candidates must be a qualified accountant, hold experience in sizable charity settings and be available to start in March 2026. This role will have a duration of 6 months. Whilst hybrid working is in place, onsite working will be expected on a regular basis. Part time, 3 – 4 days per week, is also under consideration if the right experience and approach can be demonstrated.
