We are expanding our Innovations Team and this is a great chance to join our dynamic Innovations Department as an Electronics Design & Development Engineer, where you will transform bold concepts into real, market-leading products that empower children’s learning on a global scale. This is your chance to lead electronic innovation in a purpose-driven, fast-paced environment—prototyping tomorrow’s classroom breakthroughs while collaborating with designers, app developers, manufacturers, and educators.
Responsibilities:
- Drive the electronic design and development of exciting new products and enhancements, balancing creativity, functionality, safety, cost, and manufacturability.
- Take ownership of electronics from concept through to production: schematic design, PCB layout, component selection, prototyping, testing, and value engineering.
- Collaborate cross-functionally—liaise with suppliers, external partners (3rd parties and key OEMs), QA, and Product teams to ensure seamless hardware-software integration and flawless launches.
- Champion emerging technologies (wireless protocols, embedded systems, batteries, sensors) and push boundaries to keep our products future-proof and ahead of the curve.
- Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, specifications, user manuals, and compliance files.
- Solve real-world product challenges through fault diagnosis, root-cause analysis, rigorous testing (lifespan, EMC, safety), and continuous improvement.
- Scout innovative suppliers, assess new concepts for feasibility/cost, and provide technical expertise across the business.
Experience:
- A relevant Electrical/Electronic Engineering qualification (HNC, Degree, or equivalent).
- Hands-on industry experience in electronic product design and development.
- Strong technical foundation: PCB design, schematic interpretation, soldering (down to /QFP), test equipment, EMC/safety considerations, and design-for-manufacture principles.
- Creative flair combined with practical problem-solving—someone who thrives turning ideas into commercial products.
- Embedded systems/microcontrollers, wireless (Bluetooth/Wi-Fi), Lithium-ion batteries, rapid prototyping (Arduino, 3D printing), fault diagnostics/root-cause analysis (Preferred).
- Excellent communicator—able to collaborate effectively with diverse teams, suppliers, and non-technical stakeholders.
- Resourceful, flexible, and comfortable juggling multiple projects in a dynamic, innovative environment.
