Reporting to the Head of Service Operations, the Platform & Tooling lead will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering RM technologies and systems foundations. Leading a small but highâperforming team responsible for key internal platforms, systems integration, data, and automation.
This is a playerâmanager role, combining handsâon technical delivery with leadership responsibilities. The role will provide line management to two engineers, drive technical excellence, and lead the implementation and migration of core operational systems including a new ITSM platform.
This role underpins the organisation's ambition to become more dataâdriven, automated, and efficient, ensuring our internal and customerâfacing systems are scalable, secure, and aligned to best practice.
Responsibilities
- Line manages and mentors two Platform Engineers, ensuring clear objectives, prioritisation, and continuous development.
- Own the delivery roadmap for platform, data, and automation improvements â balancing quick wins with strategic transformation.
- Act as technical lead and delivery manager for key projects including ITSM tool implementation, system migrations, and automation initiatives.
- Work closely with the Head of Service Operations to align platform strategy with operational and service delivery goals.
Platforms, Integration's & Automation
- Oversee and contribute to the design, build, and optimisation of internal systems and integrations across the inâscope systems, reporting, and monitoring platforms.
- Ensure changes are delivered in a controlled, secure, and wellâdocumented manner.
- Identify and deliver automation opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve service efficiency.
- Implement and maintain integrations between systems using PowerShell, Python, and other automation frameworks.
- Lead on improving platform resilience, performance, and scalability.
- Develop clean, elegant and reusable code thatâs wellâtested and easy to maintain and extend.
Advice & Guidance
- Act as the SME for platform and automation technologies across the division.
- Work collaboratively with teams to ensure integrated and effective technology outcomes.
- Act as a 'champion' on promoting how our data, automation, platforms, and integrations can support the organisation's dayâtoâday activities.
Dashboards and Reports
- Oversee development of data pipelines, dashboards, and operational reporting for service and performance insight.
- Ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and security across systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define metrics and ensure reporting aligns to business needs.
Experience Skills and Experience
- Proven experience of leading or mentoring technical teams within a serviceâfocused or MSP environment.
- Strong track record delivering IT platform transformations and system migrations (e.g. ITSM tools, automation systems).
- Deep handsâon experience in PowerShell and/or Python scripting for automation.
- System integrations and APIâdriven workflows.
- Cloud technologies (Azure preferred).
- InfrastructureâasâCode and modern configuration management.

- Knowledge of cloud platform design patterns and best practices.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, able to engage across technical and nonâtechnical audiences.
- Experience designing and delivering dashboards and reports for operational insight.
- Ability to balance strategic leadership with handsâon delivery.
