The purpose of this role is to ensure compliant and high-quality bids are submitted on behalf of RM, to maintain and grow our portfolio of IT services and products. You will work within an established and successful bidding team, reporting to the Head of Bid Management.
You will write your own content, as well as overseeing our Bid Writers’ responses and ensuring they are high quality. This will include reviewing storyboards and drafts at stages throughout the bid process.
Responsible for managing all aspects of our bids, you will matrix-manage individuals across the organisation to complete multiple bids to meet external deadlines and within governance processes.
Due to the timescales of bidding, there may be times when there is a need for weekend/evening work. Flexibility is expected, and time in lieu will always be repaid.
Responsibilities
The Bid Manager will be responsible for:
- Independently manage multiple bids, ensuring they are compliant and of high quality.
- Ensure bids follow internal governance processes.
- Leading on strategy during and after the bid process i.e., identifying win themes, through to ensuring feedback is obtained, scrutinized, and shared.
- Mentor Bid Writers as they complete the written sections of bids, reviewing storyboards, first, and final drafts to ensure they answer the question, are personalised, and offer best value.
- Write strategic/high scoring responses.
- Develop relationships and work with roles of differing seniority across the organisation.
- Matrix-manage members of the extended bid team i.e., HR, finance, and product leads.
- Oversee continuous improvement processes i.e., ensuring bid library content is updated with feedback.
- Prepare colleagues for bidders days and presentations.
- Develop timelines for bids, taking into consideration conflicting timescales and priorities across the team and business.
- Support the Head of Bid Management with ad hoc duties.
Experience
Essential
- Bid management experience.
- Ability to manage multiple bids at one time.
- Experience in reviewing and supporting colleagues’ work.
- Experience within technical industries/writing.
- Curiosity relating to understanding our products – their USPs, and benefits.
- Understanding of differing strategies that can be employed for bids.
Desirable
- Understanding of TUPE.
- Understanding of financial models.
