Overview
Would you like to help enrich the lives of learners around the world?
At RM, we’ve been pioneers of education technology since 1973. We provide technology and resources to the education sector, supporting over 10 million students worldwide. We work with over 28,000 schools, nurseries, and education trusts in 115 countries to deliver customer-centric solutions that improve education outcomes.
What we do helps learners at all stages of their lives, from preschool to higher education and professional qualification; we partner with schools, examination boards, central governments, and other professional institutions to enrich the lives of learners.
RM Group operates through three businesses: Technology (Managed Services, Software and Infrastructure for Schools), Assessment (Software and Services), and TTS (Educational Resources).
Following a period of significant change within the business and the department itself, Group Finance needs to finalize its mission to deliver robust, repeatable processes, rapid and reliable internal and external reporting, and a cost-effective statutory audit.
Responsibilities
- Manage the month-end process to closure of ledgers for actuals, presiding over (and controlling) the daily ‘pulse call’ to ensure all R2R teams remain on target.
- Manage the monthly management reporting process from point of finalization of actuals in the ledgers through to production of all management accounts packs, incorporating the consolidation of actuals from the Reporting team, forecast numbers and commentary from the divisional finance teams, balance sheet segmentation, and cash flow analysis.
- Oversee basic FP&A activities, supporting the divisional finance teams.
- Systemize and improve the consolidation process, including a cost/benefit consideration (and project managing this process should such an outcome be positive) of moving to a consolidation tool.
- Challenge process inefficiencies within Finance, working to improve Finance knowledge or drive process change, partnering with IT (where applicable) for systemic improvement or resolution.
- Partner with IT to provide quick and effective response for Finance-impacting Agresso issues.
- Line management responsibilities for one direct report, with ‘dotted line’ responsibility for three colleagues in India.
Experience
- Qualified accountant with strong post-qualified experience.
- Strong negotiator, as will be facing off against senior people in the Finance team.
- Excellent time management skills, as deliverables will encompass significant components produced by others not within the role’s direct reporting line.
- Good communicator, particularly bridging the gap between the needs of Finance and the detailed systems knowledge of IT.
- Pragmatism and task-oriented focus.
- Experience of Agresso and/or consolidation software is desirable.
