Conveyancer/Head of Residential Property
£45,000 – £60,000 DOE + Bonus | Permanent | Full-time
A unique law firm in South Devon is looking to recruit an experienced Residential Property Lawyer to head up its conveyancing department.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Conveyancer who is ready to take on greater responsibility and have a genuine influence over the running and future development of a residential property team and this small single office firm.
The Role
The department is small – currently comprising the Head of Department and one junior team member – so this is very much a hands-on position. You will continue to manage your own quality caseload whilst taking responsibility for the supervision, support and development of the junior member of the team, and ultimately expand and grow this department over time.
Your work will include:
- Freehold and leasehold sales and purchases
- New-build transactions
- Shared ownership matters
- Remortgages
- Transfers of equity
- Other associated residential property matters
About You
The firm is looking for an experienced Residential Conveyancer/Property Lawyer who is confident handling their own caseload from instruction through to completion.
You will ideally be a Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive or Licensed Conveyancer, although applications may also be considered from highly experienced residential property specialists with the right technical background.
You should have:
- Strong experience across a broad range of residential conveyancing transactions
- Previous supervisory, mentoring or team leadership experience
- The technical knowledge to provide guidance and support to a more junior team member
- Confidence managing a busy caseload independently
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail
- A strong client-focused approach
- The ability and enthusiasm to help develop the department over the longer term

Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 depending on experience
