Salary: £50 to £65ph

Join a long established multi-office law firm in Dorset, on a Locum basis. Requirement is for an experienced Employment Solicitor/Lawyer to join the team to cover a recruitment gap. Handling an Employment Law caseload of non-contentious and contentious matters (predominantly claimant), also some team supervisory duties, if possible (not essential). Position is to start mid March 2026 for an initial 3 months, likely longer until the firm recruits a new permanent candidate. Full or part time hours can be considered and, whilst the preference is for some on-site attendance, this role can be considered on a fully remote basis!

Position Overview

Our client, an established multi-office high street practice, is looking for an experienced Employment Locum Solicitor/Lawyer to assist with this work as part of their Corporate & Commercial team. Hybrid/remote and flexible working feasible and good scope to take on quality work at a senior level.

The work will include:

  • Employment Law contract drafting
  • Resolving employer/employee disputes
  • General employment-related advisory work
  • A working knowledge of the Employment Tribunal system

Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse caseload.
  • Work autonomously.
  • Provide excellent legal advice to clients.
  • Support the employment law team effectively, including supervisory and mentoring responsibilities, if possible.
  • Handle matters from instruction to completion.

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in Employment law, with experience in both contentious & non-contentious matters.
  • Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive, or similar.
  • Proven ability to work on a standalone basis.
  • Strong communication and client care skills.
