Job Purpose
Reporting to a Value Stream Manager, the Spray Painter is responsible for the application of spray paint and other finishes to component parts defined by the customer specifications.
Main Duties & Responsibilities include:
- To prepare and mix paint and finishing media in accordance with manufacturers and customers specifications.
- To ensure that components and sub-assemblies are adequately prepared for finishing i.e. Operations as defined in routing have been completed.
- To alert area supervision of any handling / jigging problems that could adversely affect the quality of finish.
- To apply finishes as required ensuring minimum cost, maximum efficiency and optimum quality.
- To ensure that all operations are carried out safely and that protective clothing and equipment are used where appropriate.
- Maintenance of spray guns to ensure they are in good working order.
- Any other duties as may be required, within the capabilities of the post-holder.
Qualifications:
- NVQ L3 in a relevant discipline OR Time served apprenticeship in an Engineering or relevant discipline.
Essential Experience:
- 2 years experience in spray painting.
- Experience in an Engineering / Manufacturing environment.
- Experience of working with small components.
- Ability to read and understand work instructions.
- Experience of reading and interpreting engineering drawings and production cards.
- Practical experience in the treatments area.
Desirable skills and experience:
- More than 5 years experience in an Engineering / Manufacturing environment.
- Experience within the aerospace industry.
Hours of Work
During your initial training period: Monday to Thursday - 0800-1630, Friday 0800-1300. On successful completion of your training period, you will commence a rotational shift pattern.
