We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer to join our engineering team. You will be responsible for taking product concepts from initial sketches to fully detailed, manufacturable 3D models and 2D drawings. The role involves designing components, assemblies, and systems, ensuring they meet performance, cost, and safety standards. You will work closely with Project Managers, Production, and Clients to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D production drawings using CAD software (Inventor).
  • Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs), technical specifications, and engineering change notices (ECNs).
  • Collaborate on building and testing prototypes and incorporate feedback into design iterations.
  • Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturing (DFM) and assembly (DFA), including sheet metal and machining.
  • Ensure all designs comply with UK and international standards (e.g., ISO, BS EN).
  • Liaise with vendors, suppliers, and internal cross-functional teams to resolve design-related issues.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • BEng/BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or equivalent HNC/HND with relevant experience.
  • 2-3+ years of experience in 3D CAD modelling (SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or similar).
  • Strong working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Some knowledge of engineering processes.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of design for manufacture (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
  • Understanding of quality standards and engineering documentation practices.
