RKMS Group is a family-run consultancy and training business with over 30 years’ experience supporting organisations to implement, maintain and improve management systems. We have supported more than 4,000 clients across the UK and overseas, working across a wide range of industries and regulatory environments.
This role focuses on our core standards:
- ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) – Primary Focus
- ISO 9001 (Quality)
- ISO 27001 (Information Security – desirable, not essential)
We are practical, approachable and value-driven - helping clients implement systems that work operationally, not just for audit.
We are seeking an ISO Management Systems Consultant with a strong Health & Safety background, supported by practical experience across ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. This is not a trainee role. Applicants must already be confident interpreting ISO standards and applying them in live business environments. The successful candidate should be capable of taking on client work with minimal technical training, although full support and training will be provided in RKMS internal systems, templates and processes.
The role is client-facing and involves a blend of on-site and remote working. Typically, this involves approximately 40% travel to client sites and 60% remote delivery, averaged across projects. Travel is UK-based and planned in advance wherever possible.
This role suits someone who:
- Has solid Health & Safety technical knowledge
- Is comfortable engaging with operational teams and leadership
- Can independently deliver assigned projects within a structured, project-managed environment
- Is looking for long-term development within a supportive consultancy team
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting clients to implement, maintain and improve ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems
- Conducting and supporting internal audits across the core standards
- Preparing organisations for UKAS-accredited certification and surveillance audits
- Reviewing risk assessments, aspects & impacts, compliance obligations and operational controls
- Developing practical, proportionate documentation and processes
- Providing pragmatic compliance guidance with a strong operational focus
- Working collaboratively with the RKMS consultancy and project management teams
Essential Experience & Skills
- Applicants must have hands-on experience working within ISO-based management systems, either internally or within consultancy.
- Strong Health & Safety background (e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent experience)
- Practical experience implementing or maintaining ISO 45001
- Exposure to and working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
- Experience supporting internal and/or external audits
- Ability to interpret ISO clauses and apply them in real-world business settings
- Confident stakeholder communication at operational and management level
- Ability to deliver projects with minimal supervision
- Willingness to travel across the UK
- Competent IT skills, including cloud-based systems
- NEBOSH Diploma or higher-level Health & Safety qualification
- Experience working across multiple sectors or regulated environments
- Exposure to ISO 27001
- Internal Auditor qualification (Lead Auditor not required)
- Formal qualifications are valued, but practical experience and delivery capability are more important
What This Role Is - and Isn’t
- A hands-on consultancy role with a strong Health & Safety focus
- A position for someone who can contribute from day one
- A structured environment with support from an experienced team
- Not a trainee or entry-level opportunity
- Not a senior, strategic or business development role
- Not dependent on holding a Lead Auditor qualification
Salary & Benefits
- £30,000 – £38,500 per annum (dependent on experience)
- Private healthcare / Employee Assistance Programme
