Role Description
The Site Manager – Data Infrastructure will oversee the on-site delivery of structured cabling and data infrastructure projects at client locations in London. This contract role involves coordinating daily site activities, managing subcontractors and installation teams, and ensuring that all work complies with design specifications, industry standards, and health and safety regulations. The person in this role will plan and sequence tasks, monitor progress against project timelines, and report on status, issues, and risks to project managers and stakeholders. Daily responsibilities include supervising installation of fibre and copper cabling, data center infrastructure components, containment systems, and related IT services, as well as conducting quality checks, site inspections, and documentation updates. The Site Manager will also act as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, addressing technical queries, supporting commissioning activities, and helping to hand over fully documented, tested systems.
Qualifications
- Strong experience managing on-site data infrastructure or structured cabling projects, including fibre and copper installations, data center environments, and containment systems.
- Proficiency in coordinating installation teams and subcontractors, planning site activities, sequencing works, and maintaining project schedules and documentation.
- Solid understanding of relevant standards and best practices for structured cabling, data center layout, testing, and certification, as well as basic networking principles.
- Proven ability to enforce and promote health, safety, and environmental compliance on construction and technical sites, including risk assessments and method statements.
- Effective stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to act as the main on-site contact for clients, consultants, and internal project managers.
- Experience with quality assurance on site, including inspections, test records, as-built documentation, and support for handover and commissioning.
- Previous exposure to electrical or building services environments (e.g., LV systems, BMS, security, AV) is highly beneficial.
