Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Winder/Fitters role based at RJW Engineering's facility in Liverpool. The Winder/Fitter will be responsible for the repair, overhaul, and maintenance of electric motors and rotating equipment, including dismantling, assessing faults, rewinding, reassembling, and testing units to customer specifications and industry standards. Day-to-day tasks include coil winding, fitting and assembly of mechanical and electrical components, using hand and power tools, and interpreting technical drawings and job sheets. The role involves working to tight deadlines to minimize customer downtime, maintaining accurate records of work carried out, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure safe and efficient workshop practices. The Winder/Fitter may also support on-site work at customer locations as required.
Qualifications
- Strong practical skills in electric motor winding, fitting, and mechanical assembly, with experience in rotating equipment maintenance and repair.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and job specifications, and to follow established engineering procedures.
- Good understanding of electrical and mechanical principles, including fault diagnosis, testing, and use of appropriate tools and measurement equipment.
- Commitment to safe working practices, including adherence to health and safety guidelines, housekeeping standards, and risk assessments.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently, manage time, and meet deadlines in a busy workshop environment.
- Previous experience in an engineering, motor rewind, or maintenance workshop is highly beneficial.
- Relevant vocational or technical qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering (e.g., apprenticeship, NVQ, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Willingness to support occasional on-site work and flexible working hours to meet customer needs.
