Annual Remuneration: £42,000–£56,000 dependent on experience and professional certification with additional performance based bonuses, private medical insurance and a comprehensive pension scheme.
Contract Type: Permanent Full-Time, 40 hours per week; subject to a six month probationary review;
contractual adherence to company non disclosure, IP assignment and data security policies is mandatory.
Role Overview
The Patent Clerk is a critical full time professional appointment within RJV Technologies Ltd’s Legal and Intellectual Property Division.
This position directly underpins the corporate, scientific and commercial imperatives of the organization by ensuring the rigorous, continuous and fully auditable management of all patent documentation, filings, legal correspondences and intellectual property assets with a particular focus on the highly confidential and strategically sensitive Unified Model Equation (UME) patent family.
The role is integral not merely to the maintenance of the company’s IP portfolio but to the practical implementation of UME derived inventions, technologies and proprietary scientific processes across all research, development and commercialization domains of RJV Technologies Ltd.
Required Expertise
- Technical and Legal Proficiency: Demonstrable expertise in UK, European, US and international patent law with in depth knowledge of filing, prosecution, renewal and opposition processes as they pertain to complex, multidisciplinary inventions.
- UME Technology Familiarity: Working knowledge of or the demonstrable capacity to rapidly master, the Unified Model Equation (UME) framework including its mathematical, computational and technological manifestations.
- This includes an ability to comprehend and process highly technical invention disclosures, claims, and scientific reports arising from UME-related research.
- IP Lifecycle Management: Mastery of intellectual property management software (e.g., CPA Global, Anaqua, PATTSY) advanced document management systems and electronic filing protocols for multiple patent offices and jurisdictions.
- Advanced Research Capabilities: High level proficiency in conducting, documenting and interpreting patent, technical and legal research using both public and proprietary databases (EPO Espacenet, USPTO PAIR, WIPO Patentscope, Derwent Innovation, etc.).
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Superior written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface diplomatically and authoritatively with internal inventors, legal counsel, technical teams and external regulatory bodies.
- Analytical and Procedural Rigor: Exceptional attention to detail, critical thinking and problem solving abilities especially as applied to the analysis, synthesis and quality control of scientific, technical, and legal information.
- Educational and Professional Background: Bachelor’s degree or higher in law, physical sciences, mathematics, engineering or a related field; professional qualifications such as CIPA Certification or equivalent are highly advantageous.
- Minimum of two years’ direct experience in a patent-related or technology transfer role within a scientific, legal, or industrial environment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Within RJV Technologies Ltd and the Unified Model Equation Technology Context:
- Patent Documentation and Control: Assume full custodianship of all physical and digital patent files related to the Unified Model Equation and associated technologies, maintaining a legally auditable, chronologically organized and fully encrypted archive, compliant with all statutory requirements and internal governance policies.
- Drafting and Filing of Applications: Prepare, format, and submit patent applications for UME-based inventions and all other corporate IP encompassing formal descriptions, claims, technical drawings, sequence listings and all requisite documentation in accordance with the requirements of the UKIPO, EPO, USPTO, WIPO and other relevant bodies.
- Collaborate with internal inventors and external patent attorneys to ensure that all filings reflect the maximal scope and originality of UME derived advancements.
- Research and Prior Art Analysis: Conduct exhaustive, systematic searches for prior art, state of the art reviews and freedom to operate analyses for all UME technologies and related inventions.
- Prepare detailed, actionable research memoranda and risk assessments for use by the legal, scientific, and executive teams. Maintain a real time tracking system for all UME related disclosures and their competitive patent landscapes.
- Compliance and Deadline Management: Monitor, track and action all deadlines for office actions, renewals, annuity payments, opposition and appeal filings and related statutory obligations for every patent family with a zero tolerance policy for missed deadlines, procedural lapses or data integrity breaches.
- Legal Correspondence and Stakeholder Liaison: Draft, review and dispatch formal legal and technical correspondence to and from patent offices, internal and external counsel and international regulatory authorities.
- Act as primary point of contact for all procedural and administrative queries concerning UME patent filings, oppositions, amendments, and licensing.
- Internal Process Integration: Collaborate directly with RJV Technologies Ltd’s R&D and Technology Transfer divisions to capture, document and evaluate all new inventions, discoveries and process improvements arising from UME based research.
- Provide procedural and substantive support in the internal review and patent committee decision-making processes.
- Litigation and Enforcement Support: Assist the Legal Division in preparing evidence, documentation and legal strategies for enforcement actions, oppositions or litigation proceedings arising from infringement, validity challenges or cross jurisdictional disputes involving UME or other company patents.
- Confidentiality and Security: Enforce and monitor the highest standards of information security, confidentiality, and IP chain of custody including regular auditing and reporting to the Head of Legal and the Data Protection Officer.
- All handling of UME related material is subject to strict compartmentalization and zero-leakage policy.
- Continuous Improvement and Compliance: Proactively propose, document and implement procedural enhancements to the patent management and compliance framework ensuring that RJV Technologies Ltd remains ahead of evolving legal, technical and commercial threats to its IP assets.
- Training and Mentorship: Provide onboarding, procedural training and ongoing mentorship to junior patent support staff ensuring continuity and scalability of the company’s IP administration capability in the context of the rapidly evolving UME technology portfolio.
Remuneration and Advancement
The Patent Clerk will be remunerated at a highly competitive annual salary commensurate with experience and qualifications within the range of £42,000 to £56,000 per annum payable monthly in arrears plus eligibility for an annual performance-based bonus up to 5% of base salary subject to both individual and company level KPIs.
Additional benefits include private healthcare, enhanced employer pension contributions, paid training and certification support, and 28 days paid holiday plus statutory public holidays.

Non Disclosure and Assignment of Intellectual Property
All employees,
including the Patent Clerk are required to execute binding non disclosure agreements (NDAs) and comprehensive IP assignment contracts as a condition of employment.
Any inventions, improvements or procedural innovations developed during the course of employment become the exclusive property of RJV Technologies Ltd.
