We are supporting an established and reputable adult care provider as they expand into children’s residential services with the launch of their very first EBD home in Medway, Kent. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and experienced Registered Manager—or a strong Deputy ready to step up—to lead a brand-new service from the ground up. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the home, building your team, and creating a safe, nurturing and high-quality environment where children can thrive.

This role offers full ownership of the home’s setup and registration, giving you the autonomy to build a service that reflects your values, leadership style, and commitment to outstanding care. You’ll be supported by an experienced senior leadership team with a strong background in care, who are fully committed to investing in quality, compliance, and long-term success within the children’s sector.

About The Home:

  • Supporting children with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD)

  • Full involvement from pre-registration through to opening and beyond

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Ofsted registration process and take full responsibility for the home
  • Build, recruit, and develop a high-performing staff team
  • Ensure compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
  • Create a safe, stable, and therapeutic environment for young people
  • Embed safeguarding practices and act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
  • Develop and implement care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour strategies
  • Drive the home towards achieving Good and Outstanding Ofsted outcomes
  • Manage budgets, resources, and overall operational performance
  • Build strong relationships with local authorities and external professionals

Requirements:

  • Experience within children’s residential care (EBD experience preferred)
  • Previous experience as a Registered Manager or strong Deputy Manager ready to step up
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
  • Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations and safeguarding frameworks
  • Confident leader with the ability to build and inspire a team
  • Full UK driving licence
