RJS Resourcing is recruiting on behalf of an established residential care home in Penzance for an experienced and enthusiastic Cook.

This is a rewarding opportunity to join a friendly team preparing fresh, nutritious and enjoyable meals for residents.

You will play an important part in making mealtimes a positive experience while ensuring individual dietary requirements, allergies and preferences are carefully followed.

Working hours are on a rota basis 8am-8pm three days a week, working every other weekend.

The Role

  • As The Cook, Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Preparing and cooking nutritious, well-presented meals
  • Following agreed menus and maintaining consistent quality
  • Preparing snacks, refreshments and alternative meal options
  • Adapting meals for allergies, modified-texture diets and other individual requirements
  • Working closely with care staff to understand residents’ dietary needs and preferences
  • Plating and serving meals to a high standard
  • Completing stock checks and rotating ingredients correctly
  • Maintaining accurate kitchen and food-safety records
  • Keeping the kitchen, equipment and storage areas clean and organised
  • Following food hygiene, infection-control and health-and-safety procedures

  • Have previous kitchen, cooking or catering experience
  • Understand food preparation and hygiene standards
  • Be organised and able to work efficiently during busy periods
  • Have a reliable, positive and flexible approach
  • Work well independently and as part of a wider care team
  • Take pride in preparing meals that people genuinely enjoy

Experience within a care home or preparing meals for specialist diets, allergies or swallowing difficulties would be beneficial. However, additional training can be provided.

An appropriate DBS check will be required for this position.
