Overview
We are working in partnership with a growing, forward-thinking care provider as they prepare to open their very first Ofsted-registered children’s home in Cambridgeshire. With an established background in supported accommodation for young people, the organisation is now expanding into residential childcare and is seeking a passionate Registered Manager to lead the service from the very beginning. This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in launching a new home, shaping its culture, and building a high-quality, child-centred environment from the ground up.
The Opportunity
As Registered Manager, you will take full ownership of the registration and setup of the home, supported by an experienced Responsible Individual and senior leadership team. You’ll have the autonomy to build your own team, implement your vision, and create a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive.
About The Home
- Location: Cambridgeshire
- Property: 6-bedroom residential property
- Proposed Registration: 2-bed children’s home
- Client Group: Children with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD)
- Stage: Pre-registration (Ofsted application in progress)
- Growth Plans: Clear plans to expand following successful registration
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Ofsted registration process and take full responsibility for the home
- Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing staff team
- Ensure full compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
- Create a safe, stable, and nurturing environment for young people
- Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and embed strong safeguarding practices
- Develop and oversee care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour strategies
- Drive the home towards achieving Good and Outstanding Ofsted outcomes
- Build strong relationships with local authorities and partner agencies
- Manage budgets, resources, and overall performance of the service
Requirements
- Experience within children’s residential care (EBD experience preferred)
- Previous experience as a Registered Manager, or a strong Deputy Manager ready to step up
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
- Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations and safeguarding frameworks
- Confident, resilient leader with a child-centred approach
- Full UK driving licence
