We're Hiring | Senior Operatior Refined Metals
I'm currently working on an exciting opportunity for a Senior Operator / Team Lead to join a growing physical commodities trading business, overseeing operations across its EMEA refined metals portfolio.
This is a senior, hands-on position sitting between Trading, Trade Finance, Finance and external logistics partners, with responsibility for managing the full trade lifecycle and leading a junior operator.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end execution of physical metals trades, from contract through to final settlement.
- Prepare and review purchase and sales contracts, amendments and trade documentation.
- Oversee shipping documentation, bills of lading, warehouse releases and deliveries.
- Coordinate with warehouses, freight forwarders, suppliers and customers across EMEA.
- Manage customs, import/export requirements and regulatory obligations, including VAT and CBAM.
- Maintain physical positions, allocations and reconciliations within the CTRM system.
- Oversee logistics costs, freight negotiations, invoicing and payment reconciliations.
- Work closely with traders on forward planning, delivered-cost calculations and operational issues.
- Lead and develop a junior member of the operations team.
What We're Looking For:
- 7+ years' experience in Operations or Middle Office within a physical commodities trading environment.
- Strong experience across physical metals, ideally aluminium or base metals.
- Good understanding of Incoterms, bills of lading, shipping documentation and trade finance.
- Knowledge of customs, VAT and import/export regulations.
- Experience using a CTRM system and advanced Excel skills.
- Previous experience mentoring or managing junior team members.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously.
