Middle Office Analyst – Physical Metals Trading

We are working with a leading international commodities trading firm seeking a Middle Office Analyst to support its growing physical metals business. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in physical commodities who are looking to develop their career within a fast-paced trading environmen t.
The successful candidate will work closely with traders, operations, logistics, finance, and risk teams, ensuring the accurate capture, monitoring, and reporting of physical trading activities across the metals portfolio. Experience within aluminium markets is highly desirable, although candidates from broader base metals backgrounds will also be consider ed.
Key Responsibilities
- tiesSupport the daily management of physical metals trading activities from trade execution through settlem ent.
- Validate and maintain trade data within internal trading and risk management syst ems.
- Monitor positions, exposures, inventory, and P&L report ing.
- Reconcile trading, logistics, and finance data to ensure accuracy and completen ess.
- Liaise with traders, operations, shipping, and counterparties regarding contract execution and trade lifecycle eve nts.
- Assist with pricing, invoicing, and settlement proces ses.
- Produce daily and monthly management reports covering positions, exposures, and operational K LPIs.
- Investigate and resolve trade discrepancies and excepti on s.
- Support process improvement initiatives and system enhanceme nts.
Requirements
- 1–5 years of experience within a middle office, trade support, operations, risk, or trade control func tion.
- Previous experience within physical commodities trading is essen tial.
- Exposure to physical metals markets, with aluminium experience strongly prefe rred.
- Strong understanding of the physical trade lifecycle, including contracts, logistics, inventory, pricing, and settle ment.
- Excellent analytical and numerical sk ills.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with commodity trading systems is advantag eous.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced trading environ ment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management sk ills.
