Our client, a leading Gas & Power trading business, is seeking an experienced Market Risk Manager to join their high-performing London team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping risk oversight across fast-moving energy markets while working closely with trading, analytics, and senior leadership.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee daily market risk management for Gas & Power trading portfolios
- Analyse and challenge risk exposures, VaR, stress testing, and limit utilisation
- Provide independent insight into market drivers, position changes, and P&L attribution
- Develop and enhance risk frameworks, methodologies, and reporting tools
- Collaborate with Front Office, Middle Office, and quantitative teams to support new products and strategies
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements
- Manage a small Market Risk team in London
Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience in Market Risk within Gas & Power trading (essential)
- Strong understanding of energy markets, derivatives, and trading strategies
- Solid technical skills: Python, SQL, or similar analytical tools
- Proven ability to interpret complex data and communicate clearly to stakeholders
- Proactive mindset with confidence to challenge assumptions and influence decisions
