This is a rare chance to take genuine ownership of a Second Line Assurance function at a senior level within a high-profile, regulated consumer business. You'll be shaping frameworks, influencing at Board level, and playing a direct role in protecting the organisation's licence to operate. If you're a credible, technically strong assurance professional who thrives on both strategic thinking and operational delivery, this is a role with real substance.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead the design and ongoing enhancement of an enterprise-wide Second Line Assurance Framework, owning a risk-based assurance plan that spans regulatory compliance, financial crime, operational controls, and conduct risk.
- Deliver thematic reviews and deep-dive assurance assessments, producing sharp, commercially focused reporting for Executive and Board Committees, and providing independent challenge to senior stakeholders across the business.
- Oversee issue tracking and remediation, ensuring control weaknesses don't just get identified — they get fixed.
- Engage with stakeholders, working closely with Compliance, Risk, Legal, Operations, Technology, and Executive leadership, acting as a trusted advisor and driving a genuine culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For
- Significant experience in Assurance, Internal Audit, Risk, Compliance, or Financial Crime within a regulated environment.
- Strong working knowledge of financial crime risk — AML, fraud, sanctions, customer risk controls.
- Proven track record designing and implementing assurance or oversight frameworks.
- Experience assessing control effectiveness and delivering risk-based assurance reviews.
- The credibility and communication skills to influence at Executive and Board level.
- Sound judgement, high integrity, and the ability to balance strategic vision with operational delivery.
- Experience within the gambling sector or a professional qualification in Audit, Risk, or Compliance is a plus, as is familiarity with data analytics or technology-enabled assurance techniques.

This is a senior, high-visibility position where your work will genuinely matter. You'll have the scope to build and mature a function, bring in best practice, and leave a clear mark on the organisation's governance and control environment.
