This is a rare opportunity to build something from the ground up. A highly successful group β with interests spanning a number of sectors β is appointing its first ever Group Tax Director. The group has reached the point where it needs a senior tax professional to own this function outright and shape it for the long term.
You'll be stepping in to take full ownership β working directly with the CFO and senior stakeholders, and building a robust, well-documented tax framework that reduces external dependency and supports the group's continued growth.
What you'll be doing:
- This is a hands-on, strategic role in equal measure.
- You'll lead on everything from HMRC registrations and corporate tax compliance to group-wide tax strategy, VAT, corporate interest restriction, construction taxes, residential property developer tax and HNW/shareholder planning for the family's personal interests.
- You'll manage the relationship with existing external advisors while progressively bringing more capability in-house.
What we're looking for:
- You'll be Big 4 or top-tier firm trained, CTA/ACA qualified, and β crucially β you'll have already made the move in-house.
- You know the difference between advising and owning, and you're ready to own it.
- You're entrepreneurial, commercially sharp, and comfortable operating at board level without needing the infrastructure of a large firm behind you.
- You want to make a real mark, not manage a process.
- The culture is down to earth, direct, and fast-moving. There's no room for corporate posturing.
- You'll need to roll your sleeves up from day one.
Why this role:
- Newly created.
- Highly visible.
- Real influence over a significant and growing asset base.
- If you've been waiting for the right in-house move β one where you genuinely own the agenda β this is it.
