Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Chorley for a Fire Damper/Remedial Engineer.
The role involves inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire dampers and associated ventilation components to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
The engineer will carry out remedial works on HVAC and ductwork systems, including repair, replacement, and adjustment of fire and smoke control equipment.
Daily tasks include interpreting technical drawings and reports, documenting findings, preparing service and compliance reports, and communicating clearly with clients and colleagues on-site.
The role also requires collaborating with other engineers on verification and testing projects, adhering to health and safety procedures, and supporting continuous improvement in building safety and system performance.
Qualifications
- Strong technical skills in fire damper testing, inspection, and remedial work, with experience working on HVAC, ductwork, and ventilation systems.
- Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations (e. g., BS, HTM 03-01, ISO series) and the ability to interpret technical documentation and site protocols.
- Competence in using testing equipment and tools for ventilation and safety systems, with attention to detail in measurements, diagnostics, and reporting.
- Solid problem-solving abilities, capable of identifying faults, recommending corrective actions, and completing remedial work safely and efficiently.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, including the ability to liaise with clients, work with multidisciplinary site teams, and produce clear written reports.
- Relevant vocational qualifications or apprenticeship in mechanical, electrical, or building services engineering; additional certifications in fire safety or HVAC are advantageous.
- Experience working in healthcare, cleanroom, laboratory, or other controlled environments is beneficial.
