The Business Development Executive will be responsible for identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities within the electrical engineering and power systems industry across the South of England, working with both existing and new customers, including end users and facilities management businesses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Market Development
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in target markets such as industrial automation, power generation, transmission & distribution, renewable energy and electrical infrastructure projects.
- Conduct market research to understand industry trends, competitive landscape and customer needs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, consultants, EPCs and government agencies.
- Develop tailored proposals and quotations in coordination with the technical and engineering teams.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and project terms to close profitable deals.
- Strategic Planning
- Develop and execute business growth strategies aligned with company goals.
- Forecast sales performance and report on business development activities, pipeline status and revenue targets.
- Work closely with internal teams (engineering, procurement, project management and marketing) to deliver customer solutions and ensure satisfaction.
- Provide market feedback to guide product development and innovation.
- Brand & Network Expansion
- Represent the company at trade shows, industry events and professional networking opportunities.
- Promote the company’s capabilities and technical expertise to potential clients and partners.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in business development, sales, or project acquisition within the electrical or energy sector.
- 2–5+ years of experience in control systems design and implementation.
- Solid understanding of electrical systems, power equipment (e.g., switchgear, transformers, motors, control panels) and industrial automation solutions.
- Proven ability to achieve and exceed sales targets.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
- Proficient in CRM systems, MS Office and business reporting tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in increasing efficiencies/ cost savings.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Self-motivated and focused on own development.
- Project Tendering and Procurement experience.
Desirable:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related field.
After 2 years of continuous service, 1 extra day’s leave per year, up to a maximum of 5.
