About RJI
RJI (RJ International) is an independent energy infrastructure business with a track record of delivering major electrical and generation projects across the UK. We coordinate and manage installations and contracts on behalf of asset owners and clients, bringing rigour, technical depth and commercial control to every project we run. We are growing and looking for a capable Project Manager to take ownership of LV and HV installation projects from mobilisation through to completion and handover. This is an excellent opportunity for an electrical engineer ready to take the next step in their career into a project leadership role.
Role Purpose
To coordinate and manage electrical LV and HV installation projects and contracts on behalf of RJI — planning the works, controlling cost and programme, managing subcontractors and site teams, and ensuring every installation is delivered safely, on time, on budget and to the required technical standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and manage LV and HV electrical installation projects from initial mobilisation through to commissioning, handover and close-out.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, contractors and suppliers, building strong working relationships and keeping stakeholders informed throughout each project.
- Manage project programmes, budgets and resources, tracking progress against milestones and proactively resolving issues that threaten cost, quality or schedule.
- Administer contracts, including scope, variations, valuations and procurement, ensuring commercial and contractual obligations are met.
- Oversee site activities and subcontractors, carrying out regular site visits to monitor progress, quality and workmanship.
- Champion health, safety, environmental and CDM compliance across all installations, ensuring works are delivered to the relevant electrical standards and regulations.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, risk assessments, method statements, progress reports and handover packs.
- Identify and manage project risks, and report on project performance to senior management.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience of electrical LV and HV installations, gained in an engineering, site or project delivery role.
- A relevant electrical engineering qualification (e.g. HNC/HND, degree, or recognised electrical apprenticeship/NVQ).
- Demonstrable experience of coordinating works, contractors or projects — or a strong engineering background and the ambition to step up into project management.
- Sound understanding of relevant electrical standards, regulations and safe systems of work (e.g. BS 7671, HV safety rules).
- Strong organisational, planning and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Commercial awareness, with the confidence to manage budgets, contracts and stakeholders.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to sites across the UK.
Desirable
- Experience managing HV installations, substations, switchgear or generation/grid connection projects.
- Project management qualification or training (e.g. APM, PRINCE2) — or a desire to work towards one.
- Relevant safety qualifications such as SMSTS/SSSTS, IOSH or NEBOSH, and CDM awareness.
- Experience working client-side or for a principal contractor on infrastructure or energy projects.
What We Offer
- Salary of £60,000 per annum.
- Company commercial vehicle or car allowance.
- 10% annual performance bonus.
- Laptop, mobile phone and all equipment provided.
