The purpose of the Commercial Finance Analyst is to optimise contribution by supporting cross functional decision-making on product pricing, capacity, and marketing activity. Reporting to the Pricing and Revenue Manager, you will work closely with Commercial, Finance, Product, and Sales teams to balance supply and demand, drive sales and maximise profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and analyse relevant information and data, including pricing, capacity, booking patterns, promotional performance, and market, competitor, and customer trends.
- Provide incisive analysis, information, and recommendations for weekly revenue management meetings with the COO, Heads of Product and CFO, focusing on risks and opportunities in booking velocity and load factors for fixed and variable capacity product.
- Improve existing KPI reporting and develop new tools to improve efficiency and quality of information to enable fully informed decision making.
- Agree and implement a robust process for decision making relating to price changes, promotions, and consolidation of and expansion of capacity to support the delivery of budget and forecast performance.
- Monitor competitors’ pricing, promotions, and availability and develop recommendations for Riviera to remain competitive in our desired market position.
- Monitor and report net incremental contribution generated from yield management activity vs budget/forecast and drive actions to manage variances and deliver target performance.
- Support pricing and profitability activity for new product development, ensuring launches are appropriately planned across the business with clear targets in place and communicated.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting processes for revenue, direct costs, gross profit providing insight and challenge where necessary.
- Provide and communicate clear analysis on pricing and promotional strategy by itinerary to enable clear objectives and targets to be set aligning to business strategy and objectives.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work with Product and Marketing teams to identify areas to drive sales into specific itineraries and departures to maximise contribution.
- Assist in new product propositions – support business case production with product teams that shows potential contribution, setting initial forecast/budgets for the product and how the proposition compares to any competition.
Skills, Experience & Competencies
- Demonstratable experience gained in a similar role(s) in a consumer-led business.
- Highly proficient in Excel, including data analysis and financial modelling of pricing, volume, and profitability.
- Self-starter with high levels of drive, energy, and resilience to succeed in a fast paced and challenging environment.
- An eye for and attention to detail.
- Demonstratable ability to communicate clearly and persuasively on complex subjects.
- Confident and determined as well as being able to see things from other people's point of view.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant, related subject area.
- Gravitas and credibility to work with and gain buy-in from leadership team and senior managers, and ability to develop working relationships with their team members.
- Adaptable, flexible, willing to “roll sleeves up” and tackle a range of issues.
- A natural curiosity into the market and competitors to help supplement analysis and findings.
- Experience in a tour operator, airline, or hospitality business.
- Knowledge of SQL or other data querying languages.
- Experience in private equity or similarly leveraged groups would be advantageous but not essential.
