Role Summary
The Field Service Technician IV will be responsible for overdelivering on the internal and external customer experience at our service locations. The ideal candidate will possess the technical acumen and the ability to provide a strong level of customer service. If you're able to think quickly on your feet, have a go-getter attitude, possess great communication skills, and have a passion for adventure, then we want you on the team. You will work with our internal partners daily to assist with service needs and coordinate with our Service, Vehicle, Delivery Operations, and Field Service Engineer teams. This role requires a dynamic leader with excellent communication skills, who fosters cross-functional interaction and champions continuous improvement to support Service teams and customers. Success in this role requires a customer-first approach, adaptability in ambiguous environments, and a creative, flexible mindset. Experience in automotive, process standardization, continuous improvement, and managing escalations is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Follow Rivian repair procedures efficiently without compromising quality and safety
- Perform complex diagnosis, repairs, installations, and inspections on vehicles
- Conduct vehicle repairs outside of a service center setting
- Perform road tests to ensure repair quality
- Manage parts operations including ordering, receiving, shipping, and inventory
- Stay updated with technical skills and required training
- Support campaigns and containment initiatives
- Maintain accurate expense reports
- Work with high quality and efficiency with minimal supervision
- Collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment
- Provide service support to the field to assist the Service organization
- Maintain professionalism in a customer-facing environment
- Document repairs accurately
This role may transition from remote to on-site work at a nearby service center within 90 miles or 2 hours. Travel to support locations as needed until a local Service Center opens, including production plants. Operate remotely if applicable until the local service center opens.
Qualifications
- HS Diploma or GED preferred
- Graduation from an accredited automotive repair school preferred
- Leadership, mentorship, and influencing experience preferred
- 5+ years of automotive experience preferred
- 3+ years working on high voltage systems and diagnostics preferred
- Proficient with laptops/computers in Windows or Mac environments
- Experience with test tools like PICO-Scope, PCAN, Kavaser Memorator, etc.
- Extensive bumper-to-bumper diagnosis and repair experience
- Ability to drive non-commercial trucks and trailers preferred
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record required
- Limited travel may be required
- Parts department and billing experience preferred
- Experience with work order management systems
- Start-up environment experience preferred
- Positive attitude in difficult situations
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Physical ability to perform occupational tasks (up to 50 lbs)
- Fluent English reading and speaking skills
- Ability to interpret documents and schematics
- Minimum age of 21
- Availability for 40 hours/week, including weekends and holidays, with shifts that may include evenings, nights, or early mornings
Pay Disclosure
Salary Range for Washington Applicants: $33.31 - $49.96 per hour. Actual pay depends on experience, location, and other factors.
