Term time only plus 5 days (195 per annum). Riverview Federation is already firmly established as leading the way for inclusive practice with highly successful provisions such as our Discover Groups, The Attendance Hub and Headway across our 2 schools; Baysgarth School and Castledyke Primary School. Provisions that understand that the needs of children are all different. Across Riverview we believe every child should have access to the right provision and support and, as such, we are embarking on developing further new and unique provisions to ensure all young people are supported to be successful.
Our flagship provision, Headway, is an outstanding alternative provision centre, based at Baysgarth School. Our aim at Headway is to ensure that every learner has the opportunity to thrive, feel valued and be successful, and we are committed to ensuring this happens for each and every student no matter what challenges or barriers to learning they face. We understand that every young person is an individual and they have individual talents and needs which must be nurtured if they are to be successful. Our vision at Headway is to offer vulnerable students and their families an educational provision which will do just that.
We offer flexible, individualised programmes for students who, for a variety of reasons, are finding mainstream school difficult, which includes a therapeutic, nurturing approach alongside our academic curriculum. We are looking for an individual who can provide this and champion the students to success; re‑engaging with education. All our provisions are successful because of the outstanding staff team, who are committed to working with young people with additional needs and have the expertise, skills and knowledge to really make a difference. We know that getting the right people makes all the difference for children and their families.
We are looking for someone who shares our vision for high quality support and is flexible, dynamic and innovative in achieving the very best care, support and curriculum for our children. We want someone who is ambitious not just for the children but for themselves. This post could lead onto a place on our teacher training programme or another leadership post as part of our expansion plans. Therefore, we want someone who has the resilience and drive to take advantage of all the opportunities that come as part of joining our Federation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Working collaboratively with the Director of Headway to ensure all students have high quality programmes of support implemented to ensure they are successful.
- Ensuring every student is supported academically through targeted support.
- Planning and delivering outstanding intervention and support programmes which may be linked to social and emotional needs.
- Creating personalised work placements and programmes for students.
- Working collaboratively with the careers lead to ensure that all students have Post‑16 destinations.
- Assessing, recording and reporting on student achievement, progress and development.
The following qualifications and experience are essential:
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) Grade C or above.
- Experience of working with students with additional needs within a secondary school.
- Knowledge and awareness of KS2 and post 16 education.
- Knowledge of how students learn and how additional needs might impact on this.
- Knowledge of SEND needs such as ADHD and Autism and how these can be supported.
- Using ICT to support students’ learning.
- Using differentiation strategies to support a range of learning needs effectively.
Riverview is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to apply for enhanced disclosure from the DBS.
