Key Responsibilities and what we look for in a Kitchen Assistant
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Kitchen Cleaner to support our busy restaurant operation during early morning hours. This role is essential in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, ensuring the kitchen is fully prepared for service each day. This is a casual position and works particularly well as a top-up to an existing job or other commitments.
The position involves thoroughly cleaning kitchen floors by pulling out all movable equipment and scrubbing/sanitising the areas behind and underneath. You will also be responsible for cleaning the external surfaces of all kitchen equipment, including the sides, backs, and wheels, ensuring all areas—especially those that are hard to reach—are maintained to a high standard. Plus additional general cleaning duties as directed by the head chef.
There may occasionally be opportunities to extend your shift beyond 8:00 AM for those interested, including assisting with deliveries and supporting basic food preparation tasks. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, be physically capable of moving equipment and performing manual cleaning tasks, and be able to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Reliability and punctuality are essential. Previous kitchen or cleaning experience is beneficial but not required.
This role offers a consistent weekday schedule with no weekend work, flexible availability across 3–5 mornings per week, and the opportunity to gain experience within a professional kitchen environment, with potential for additional hours and skill development.
