Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Undertake a range of tasks that contribute to the safety and security of the building at night, alongside ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality service.
  • Operate and implement security, fire and telephone systems, clean communal areas and rooms as required.
  • Complete regular checks of the property and report repairs and maintenance issues.
  • Assist residents aged 18–21 during the night, ensuring a safe, welcoming and friendly environment.
  • Respond to any issues, alerts or faults of the night security system or other systems and report appropriately to the relevant manager.
  • Monitor visitors\’ access to the building(s) and enforce visitor procedures.
  • Maintain an inviting Reception area as per the Psychologically Informed Environment standards.
  • Advising customers who may have safety issues during the night.
  • Assist in organising regular Health & Safety risk reviews of the premises.
  • Clean rooms and communal areas as required.
  • Provide effective customer service, including tenancy enquiries such as distribution of post and rent payments.
  • Record information related to logs, reports and records accurately.
  • Provide administrative support to the Housing Team and Service Managers.
  • Work to a rota on a night shift basis and travel to different properties within a defined area as required.
  • Use the Lone Worker system where required by policy or risk assessment.
  • Adhere to Riverside’s policy and procedure framework to ensure customer safety.
  • Participate in team meetings, attend regular supervisions and reflective practice sessions.
  • Undertake regular training and continuous development.
  • Keep up to date with local and organisational policies, procedures and information.
  • May undertake additional duties as required by line manager.

About You

  • Experience working with vulnerable client groups.
  • Experience of, and ability to work alone at night.
  • Basic IT proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and willingness to learn specific IT systems used within Riverside; complete relevant IT training where required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • An understanding of barriers faced by vulnerable and diverse customer groups and individuals with complex needs.
  • Experience of working in a team.
  • Ability to clean rooms and communal areas.
  • Communication skills with a positive, empathetic, calm, flexible, resilient attitude.
  • Organisation and time‑management skills for planning tasks and managing difficult situations.
  • Initiative and confidence to make decisions and follow through actions.
  • Basic administrative and IT skills and attention to detail to maintain records and in‑house systems.

Desirable

  • Experience working with vulnerable and diverse customer groups or individuals with complex needs.
  • Personal lived experience of homelessness, mental health issues or substance misuse.
  • Previous experience using CCTV equipment and ensuring safety of a building.
