Role Overview
You will be part of the in‑house Legal Team supporting compliance work, including access for damp and mould inspections, electrical inspections, gas safety checks, fire safety work and stock condition surveys. You will provide high‑quality, responsive and consistent legal support on access matters from start to conclusion, checking legal documentation such as legal packs and Court Orders, drafting Court paperwork, and preparing Court bundles.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality, responsive and consistent legal support on access matters from start to conclusion.
- Check receipt of legal documentation such as legal packs and Court Orders.
- Accurately draft Court paperwork, including claim forms, particulars of claim, draft orders and witness evidence.
- Update our electronic case management system and Salesforce to ensure case information is up to date.
- Prepare Court bundles.
- Update the Legal Team’s diaries with hearing dates.
- Attend Court to represent TRGL.
- Draft briefs to advocates and instruct process servers.
- Liaise with Court regarding applications and discontinue cases where necessary.
- Collaborate with the Legal team and the Building Compliance team to develop efficient, cost‑effective processes.
- Handle high volumes of work with competing priorities and deadlines.
- Adhere to internal timescales and service standards.
- Maintain and optimise use of the legal case management system and Salesforce, including templates.
- Attend meetings with the Housing Litigation team and Building Compliance team to discuss access matters as required.
- Assist with managing the Housing Litigation Team’s SharePoint and intranet pages.
- Act as an effective team player, contributing across the wider team and supporting additional legal matters when required.
- Serve as an ambassador for the Legal team, supporting the business positively and constructively.
- Work towards personal and team objectives and attend training opportunities as required.
- Adhere to the business’s policies and procedures.
Essential Qualifications
- Degree from a recognised UK university or equivalent (or qualification from a non‑UK university).
- Excellent database management skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- High level of IT literacy and excellent research skills.
- Strong working relationships within TRGL and with external stakeholders and advisers.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills; ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.
- Outcome‑focused with strong analytical skills, able to analyse, sort and summarise information.
- Ability to work independently, use own initiative, take ownership for decision‑making and propose solutions.
- High motivation, resilience and commitment to delivering a high‑performing service.

Desirable Qualifications
- Law Degree, Graduate Diploma in Law or Legal Practice Course (or other relevant housing law experience).
- Knowledge and experience of the access process for compliance work such as electrical, gas and damp and mould matters.
- Interest in social housing.
- Knowledge of relevant statutory, regulatory and common law for social landlords.
- Awareness and/or experience of compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018.
- Experience working successfully in a complex organisation, ideally in a housing association or local authority.
- Commitment to continual professional and personal development, with potential for an in‑house training contract.
