Role Profile: An Architectural Technician who assists the Head of Technical/Design and Planning Manager with external consultancy liaison, drawing production, planning, building regulations and NHBC applications, and supports the management of the company’s standard house‑type portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head of Technical/ Design and Planning Manager with appointment and liaison with external consultants.
- Check external consultants’ drawings, documents and reports.
- Produce AutoCAD house‑type and working drawings, and AutoCAD planning layouts and all associated drawings and visualisations.
- Support the Design and Planning Manager with the management of the business’s standard house‑type portfolio and the development of standard Part L specification.
- Prepare and collate planning applications, including discharge of details reserved by planning conditions, and Building Regulations and NHBC applications.
- Liaise with council officers, statutory authorities, NHBC and solicitors to obtain approvals and prepare legal drawings and documents.
- Produce tender and construction drawing packs in liaison with commercial staff, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors on technical queries during the construction phase.
- Assist in the production and checking of sales and marketing material.
- Manage budgets and payments.
- Collaborate with all departments and attend monthly development team meetings and weekly site visits to discuss development performance.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Work flexibly during business hours and promote equal opportunities and non‑discriminatory practices.
- Undertake any other duties as required by the Managing Director or Head of Technical to ensure business operation.
Qualifications – Essential:
- Architectural degree.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a technical role at a reputable housebuilder.
- Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations and NHBC standards.
- Commercial awareness and analytical ability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the North West region.
Qualifications – Desirable:
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Member (or working towards becoming) of a professional body such as CIAT.
