About this Role

Riverside Primary School is seeking to appoint anenthusiastic, caring and adaptable SEND Teaching Assistant to join oursupportive and dedicated team.

The successful candidate will work with pupils with a range ofspecial educational needs and disabilities, supporting them to access learning,develop independence and participate fully in school life. The role may involvesupporting individual pupils, small groups and children within the classroom,working closely with class teachers and the SENCo.

We are looking for someone who is patient, nurturing andcommitted to ensuring that every child is able to thrive.

The rolewill include:

  • Supportingpupils with SEND to access learning and make progress.
  • Deliveringtargeted interventions and individual or small-group support as directed by theteacher or SENCo.
  • Adaptingresources and activities to meet pupils' individual needs.
  • Usingappropriate strategies to support communication, interaction, emotionalregulation and behaviour.
  • Promotingpupils' independence rather than creating over-reliance on adult support.
  • Supportingpupils to develop positive relationships, confidence and social skills.
  • Supportingpupils with sensory, physical or personal care needs where appropriate.
  • Workingclosely with teachers, the SENCo and other professionals to implementindividual support plans and EHCP provision.
  • Observingand recording pupils' progress and providing feedback to teachers and theSENCo.
  • Supportingpupils during transitions, breaktimes, lunchtimes, educational visits and otheraspects of school life.
  • Maintaininghigh expectations for safeguarding, behaviour and inclusion.
  • Undertakingrelevant training and professional development.

  • Has agenuine passion for supporting children with SEND.
  • Ispatient, positive, calm and nurturing.
  • Hasstrong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Isflexible and able to respond to the differing needs of pupils.
  • Can workeffectively as part of a team while also using their own initiative.
  • Understandsthe importance of promoting independence and inclusion.
  • Isorganised, reliable and committed to high standards.
  • Hasexperience of working with children in a school or educational setting.
  • Hasexperience of supporting pupils with SEND; experience of needs such as ASD,ADHD, speech, language and communication needs, SEMH or sensory needs would bedesirable.
  • HoldsGCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
