Coolfreeze are seeking an experienced Tail Lift Fitter to join their specialist coachbuilding team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of tail lifts and associated lifting equipment on commercial vehicles.
This role is essential to ensuring our builds meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
- Install, service, and repair a wide range of commercial vehicle tail lifts (column, tuckaway, cantilever, passenger lifts, etc.).
- Carry out
LOLER inspections and complete all associated certification and documentation to legal standards.
- Diagnose and repair vehicle electrical systems
, including wiring, lighting circuits, control systems, and fault tracing.
- Work with hydraulic systems
, including hose replacement, ram repairs, pump servicing, and leak diagnosis.
- Collaborate with the coachbuilding team to integrate tail lifts into new vehicle builds and conversions.
- Conduct pre-delivery checks to ensure all lifting equipment is safe, compliant, and fully operational.
- Maintain accurate service records, job sheets, and compliance documentation.
- Adhere to all health and safety procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Provide technical support and advice to colleagues and customers when required.
- LOLER certification (essential) with proven experience carrying out statutory inspections.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle wiring, electrical fault-finding, and 12V/24V systems.
- Solid understanding of hydraulic systems and components.
- Previous experience fitting or maintaining tail lifts, mobility lifts, or similar lifting equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation manuals.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Experience within a coachbuilding, commercial vehicle bodywork, or automotive engineering environment.
- Familiarity with major tail lift brands (e. g., Dhollandia, Ratcliff, DEL, Anteo).
