VMU Manager Vehicle Maintenance Unit (client based) in Southampton. Salary: £55,000 per annum. Bonus opportunities available. Working hours: Monday to Friday, 45 hours per week, 07:00 – 16:30. Flexibility required.

Your Role:

  • Plan and control workforce resource availability to meet customers’ fleet demands.
  • Manage and control labour costs, including any use of third parties.
  • Comply with safety audits and manage the working code of practice for contractors.
  • Ensure planning for facilities, bays, machines, tools, diagnosis installations, etc., is carried out correctly.
  • Prepare planning and calculations for investments in workshops, facilities and HR, together with the Rygor management.
  • Regularly review prices for workshop services and adapt them to suit the market after prior agreement with Rygor management.
  • Measure and report on daily workshop performance around retail sales, warranty and internal contract.
  • Manage WIP and cash control.
  • Employ new staff and carry out effective induction.
  • Manage, coach and motivate employees, ensuring retention of high-quality team members.
  • Define target agreements with employees and review the level of target achievement.

Skills & Behaviours Required for this Role:

  • Qualifications: Level 3 (NVQ or City and Guilds or IMI Qualification) in Vehicle Repair and maintenance. Previous experience in a similar role and industry is preferred.
  • Resilience: Strong coping skills to handle challenges.
  • Communication: Engaging and motivating communication as the first point of contact for the team.
  • Motivation: Essential for personal and team success.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritise and complete tasks within timeframes to meet customer demands and maintain workshop efficiency.
