Location: Trowbridge
Contract: via Riverside Recruitment to cover a 6–9 Month Maternity leave (This role has a potential to extend and go permanent)
Hours: 43.25 paid hours per week. Working pattern:
- Mon–Thurs: 08:30–17:30 (45‑minute break)
- Fri: 08:30–15:45 (45‑minute break)
Salary: Equivalent to £40,000 per annum (paid hourly £17.79 via agency)
Riverside Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading beauty manufacturing organisation in Trowbridge with the recruitment of a Buyer to join their busy Procurement function on a maternity cover contract. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong commercial awareness, an interest in packaging, and a passion for procurement to step into a fast‑paced, innovative environment.
This role plays a key part in ensuring packaging solutions are delivered on time, on budget, and in line with strategic targets. You’ll work closely with suppliers, internal teams, and senior stakeholders to support new product development and ongoing production requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver packaging solutions that align with commercial and strategic objectives
- Support negotiations on cost, lead times, and supply agreements
- Identify new and innovative packaging materials and solutions
- Investigate alternative manufacturing options to drive cost, quality, or environmental benefits
- Create accurate and detailed packaging briefs for new NPD projects
- Ensure all briefs and quotations are completed within KPI timeframes
- Assess and mitigate supply chain risks
- Attend supplier meetings and provide clear internal feedback
- Track and record samples, including those required for compatibility testing
- Maintain accurate price books and ensure system updates (Sage X3) are correct
- Provide weekly project updates to senior leadership and product teams
- Communicate effectively across departments to support project delivery
- Promote a positive working environment and uphold company values
- Adhere to health & safety responsibilities and reporting procedures
About You
- Experience or strong interest in procurement, buying, or supply chain
- An interest in packaging, particularly within beauty, FMCG, or manufacturing
- Confident communicator with the ability to build strong supplier relationships
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Proactive, positive, and able to work at pace
- Competent user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- A collaborative team player with a problem‑solving mindset
