About the role:

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Reception Team Leader to join our friendly and supportive GP Practice. This is a hands‑on, leadership position focused on co‑ordinating and leading the Reception team and Practice’s day‑to‑day operations – as well as working alongside our other Reception Team Leaders and Trainer to coach, develop and support our ten‑person Reception team to deliver a patient experience which is of the highest possible quality. You’ll work closely with a wide range of clinicians and other members of the Practice’s administrative and Management teams on a daily basis, and lead by example in terms of providing professional, helpful and non‑judgmental customer service at every patient contact.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading and supporting the team during busy daily operations
  • Coordinating and managing daily operations, including the appointment book, Reception rotas and daily workload
  • You’ll be the go‑to person for support and guidance
  • Supporting colleagues with complex or challenging situations
  • Working with the wider Management team to improve how we deliver services to patients
  • Delivering training and coaching to support continuous development
  • Supporting patients to access care while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and compliance with NHS and Practice policies.

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in General Practice
  • Confidence using the Vision clinical system, Docman and other systems
  • Experience in leadership, training or coaching others
  • Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Someone who’s calm, organised and thrives working in a busy environment
  • Existing clearance to work in the UK for the hours described

We’re a busy surgery with 20,000 patients, located in an area with significant health inequality. This is an exciting time to join our stable, 50‑strong team, whose aim is to provide the best possible care to each individual patient with the resources we have available to us. The Practice is based in a purpose‑built health centre with recently refurbished staff kitchen, sun terrace and onsite parking. Tea, coffee and biscuits are always available!
