The Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner will be responsible for working in our service based in Chingford. We’re looking for someone who can work collaboratively with colleagues including key workers to help the people we support explore and realise their potential to develop relationships, skills and independence so that they can pursue all opportunities.

To ensure our Positive Behaviour Support offer has a measurable positive impact on people we support alongside developing our approach to reducing restrictive practice and improving STOMP scores. The Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners are expected to work proactively with operational and service support colleagues to deliver the strategic aims of the business by:

  • Compliance with UK regulations and achieving ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ ratings with the CQC.

Leadership

The Practitioners act as internal support to ensure that Liaise delivers personalised and exceptional support to the people we support through the continued development of evidence based practice. Demonstrating exceptional practice leadership practitioners will support the skills and knowledge development of support staff through training, modelling and guidance.

Be responsible for own professional development, ensuring practice and knowledge at the leading edge of Liaise’s PBS offer. Attend PBS Network meetings and engage in as well as contribute to Liaise training & development offer. Undertake and contribute to functional assessments, transition planning and support, service debriefs as required.

Ensure effective partnership working with operational colleagues that supports implementation and change within individual services and the wider group. Identifying any operational barriers and supportive solutions to overcome this. Participate in effective team working and the development of productive working relationships.

You will ensure communication is effective, respectful, professional and clear, allowing you to communicate with the people you support as well as families, professionals, and our colleagues to achieve positive outcomes for the people we provide support to. Provide routine and adhoc incident analyses.

Quality and Compliance

Be qualified or willing and able to work towards Instructor Level of PROACT SCIP ®-UK. Develop and deliver specific Behaviour and pro a script training to improve the confidence and competence of co-workers in supporting people. Promote, co-ordinate and monitor the use of skill development and other learning tools that can develop the wellbeing and independence of service users.

Support the service teams to have the knowledge and skills to deliver high quality continuing education and development for the service users, ensure that it is well documented within support plans and being effectively delivered. Provide a focus on the communication requirements of the service users within the home, supporting teams to ensure that each individual has effective methods for communication.

Demonstrate the ability to complete behaviour assessment tools and write reports relating to behaviour to a high standard. Contribute to data and soft intelligence gathering to support improvements across services.

Person Specification

Hold a formal qualification in Positive Behaviour Support or be working towards i.e., BSc in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, MSc Applied Behaviour Analysis, MA or MSc in Autism Studies, PBS Graduate Diploma, PBS BTEC Level 4 (advanced professional Diploma). Experience and knowledge of working with people with a learning disability, autism and challenging behaviour. At least 1 years’ experience as a Positive Behaviour Practitioner.

Understand legal frameworks relevant to the role, e.g., Mental Capacity Act (2005), DOLS. Able to demonstrate strong leadership and management skills. A detailed understanding of regulatory requirements, legislative and compliance requirements. Excellent communicator, both verbally and written. Strong statistical ability to be able to translate and analyze complex data. Effective conflict management skills. Reliable and trustworthy. Able to work on own initiative. Able to work under pressure, remaining calm. Aware of own limitations. Flexible and Adaptable. Excellent IT skills and confident in using computer systems. Driving License and access to a car.

Business Management

Escalate concerns professionally to operations colleagues and seek to support a resolution. To represent the company in meetings with regulators, local authorities and other external stakeholders. Work collaboratively with the wider Quality Team to maximise quality outcomes for people we support.
