Role Description

We are looking for a Community Hub & Operations Lead to oversee the day-to-day running of the Carnegie Building and lead our front-facing hub and administration team.

This is a varied, practical and people-focused role. You will help ensure the hub is welcoming, safe, well organised and responsive to the needs of residents, staff and partner organisations.

You will oversee front-of-house and administrative arrangements, coordinate use of the building and room bookings, manage facilities and contractors, and supervise relevant staff and volunteers. You will also help develop effective systems and processes, support events and activities, and work with colleagues and partners to make the best use of the hub.

Working closely with the Chief Executive and wider management team, you will play an important role in developing the Carnegie Building as an accessible and well‑run community resource at the heart of the West End.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • Experience of managing or coordinating a community building, facility, office or similar operational environment, including facilities, maintenance or contractor coordination.
  • Experience of supervising or coordinating staff and/or volunteers and creating a positive, supportive working environment.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and keep day-to-day operations running smoothly.
  • Excellent people and communication skills, with the confidence to work with residents, colleagues, partners, contractors and other building users.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach and the ability to respond calmly and effectively when issues arise.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using everyday systems for administration, monitoring and coordination.
  • An understanding of the importance of providing an inclusive, accessible and welcoming community environment.
  • Experience in a community, charity, public service or similar setting would be an advantage, but we welcome applicants from other sectors who can demonstrate relevant transferable experience.
