Overview

Main purpose of Job: To support the further development of the college community, by encouraging student participation and providing a varied enrichment programme to engage all learners across the college sites.

Responsibilities

  • To develop and promote a wide variety of cross college sports activities.
  • To develop, promote and manage exciting student enrichment activities including trips and residentials.
  • To encourage students to take a full and active role in college life.
  • To contribute to building and maintaining a college community.
  • To actively contribute to co-ordination of the cross-college enrichment programme including organisation of activities, encouraging and monitoring participation and reporting to management as required.
  • To take a lead role in organising cross-college student events, such as enrichment fairs, charity days, remembrance day.
  • To lead the college\’s students in undertaking the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
  • To liaise with curriculum areas to promote student participation in enrichment.
  • To liaise with external partners and take part in promotional events.
  • To assist with the internal and external marketing of the area.
  • To support the line manager in monitoring the use of and ensuring value for money from related budgets.
  • To drive the college vehicles as required.
  • To promote and safeguard the welfare of all students.
  • To promote equality and diversity through the role.
  • To undertake staff development and attend staff meetings as required and requested.
  • To accept flexible redeployment and reallocation of duties commensurate with the level of the post.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Level 4 qualification (or equivalent) in a related subject
  • Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in Numeracy and Literacy
  • Coaching qualification would be an advantage
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Knowledge/Experience

  • Successful experience of working with students and young people
  • Experience of effective team working and promoting effective relationships between staff, students and the community
  • General understanding of Health and Safety
  • Commitment to Equality and Diversity
  • Commitment to Safeguarding of learners
  • Experience of working within the sports industry would be an advantage
  • An understanding of the role of student union/student council/enrichment within an FE College would be an advantage

  • Salary £29,082 – £30,738 pro rata (Actual salary £24,317 – £25,701)
  • The post holder will undertake all duties and responsibilities in compliance with regulatory, legislative and college procedural requirements.
