Job Title: Vehicle Technician / Motor Mechanic

*Salary:* £27500 to £35000 + Performance Bonus
*Job Purpose*
We are seeking an experienced and reliable *Vehicle Technician / Mechanic* to join our busy workshop in Burton upon Trent. In this role, you will carry out routine servicing, safety inspections, diagnostic fault-finding, and mechanical/electrical repairs across a wide variety of light vehicles.
*Key Responsibilities*
* *Maintenance & Servicing:* Perform routine vehicle servicing, oil changes, brake pads/discs replacement, clutch replacements, and timing belt fittings in line with manufacturer specifications.
* *Diagnostics:* Use computerized diagnostic equipment to identify engine, electrical, and mechanical faults, interpreting fault codes to determine necessary repairs.
* *Repairs & Component Replacement:* Dismantle, repair, and reassemble engine components, suspension, steering, exhaust systems, and climate control systems.
* *Vehicle Safety Checks:* Conduct comprehensive vehicle health checks (VHCs) and road tests before and after repairs to ensure vehicles are roadworthy and safe.
* *MOT Testing *_*(If certified)*_*:* Carry out annual MOT inspections in strict accordance with DVSA standards.
* *Documentation:* Accurately complete job cards, service logs, and defect reports for customer transparency.
* *Workshop Safety:* Keep your bay clean, organized, and compliant with standard UK Health & Safety (HSE) regulations.
*Requirements & Qualifications*
* *Qualification:* NVQ Level 3 (or Level 2 with equivalent time-served experience) in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
* *Experience:* Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience as a vehicle mechanic in a garage or dealership setting.
* *Driving Licence:* Full, valid UK manual driving licence (maximum 6 points).
* *Tools:* Must own a personal, comprehensive toolkit suitable for general repairs.
* *Skills:* Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and sound knowledge of diagnostic software.
* *Desirable:* Active DVSA MOT Smart Card / Tester qualification is a strong advantage.
