Are you an experienced, compassionate and consistent residential childcare professional, looking for the chance to help positively transform children's lives in a specialist home environment? We are seeking a Senior Children's Therapeutic Support Worker to join a dedicated team providing high-quality, child-centred care. This warm and welcoming home provides tailored support for up to 2 children between the ages of 8-18. The children here require support with their social, emotional, and behavioural needs due to past experiences of ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) such as neglect, abuse, and trauma.

The team ensures support is highly individualised, trauma-informed, and consistent in order to achieve positive outcomes in a nurturing environment. By utilising therapeutic care methods such as PACE, Therapeutic Parenting, and Trauma Recovery, you will provide these young people with a nonjudgmental and structured environment that promotes independence and emotional regulation. You will also encourage participation in healthy, fun outdoor activities, such as kayaking or gardening, to support the development of life skills and confidence.

As a Senior Children's Therapeutic Support Worker, you will act as a positive role model not only to the children but also to your team. You will lead by example in delivering consistent, therapeutic support by guiding your team to uphold best practice aligned with Ofsted policies and procedures, safeguarding legislation, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have prior experience supporting emotional and behavioural needs, a solid understanding of providing therapeutic care, and excellent knowledge of safeguarding, care planning, and risk assessments.

Salary: £31,000 - £33,500

Hours: 2 days on 4 days off (Sleep ins included)

Role of a Senior Children's Therapeutic Support Worker:

  • Act as a positive role model for both the children and your team of staff.
  • Adhere to and follow the safeguarding policies, risk assessments, and care plans of each child.
  • Exhibit a friendly, approachable nature, providing compassionate care to children and young people.
  • Provide care in line with Ofsted requirements and guidelines.
  • Oversee and support the day-to-day operations of each shift, providing support to your team as needed.
  • Delegate tasks and lead on supervisions.
  • Maintain in-depth and up-to-date records and reports.
  • Engage with and participate in staff meetings and other professional meetings such as LAC reviews.
  • Engage with a child-centred approach to care, ensuring their social, emotional, educational, and health needs are met.
  • Understand behaviours that challenge and the reasons behind them.
  • Engage with training and development opportunities, and support your team in their development.
  • Encourage healthy outdoor pursuits and hobbies in order to build confidence and life skills.
  • Liaise with therapists, teachers, social workers, family of the children.

Requirements of a Senior Children's Therapeutic Support Worker:

  • Must hold a Level 3 or 4 Residential Childcare qualification (or equivalent).
  • Must be a driver with a full UK Driving Licence.
  • Have a genuine passion for providing children with positive outcomes.
  • Have prior experience supporting children within a residential setting.
  • Have a good understanding of trauma-informed care and therapeutic practice.
  • Be able to work a 2 days on 4 days off rota pattern, including sleep-ins.
