The Role
The Network Consultant will have responsibilities and focuses of:
- Responsible for the install and support secure and resilient LAN/WAN network infrastructures in line with industry best practices.
- Deploy and configure routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless solutions across diverse customer environments.
- Implement encryption technologies, access control systems, and secure remote access solutions.
- Manage advanced security platforms such as next-gen firewalls, IDS/IPS, NAC and secure remote access.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks including ISO27001, NIST, and PCI DSS.
Job Responsibilities
- Network Monitoring & Performance Management: Use enterprise monitoring and analytics tools to ensure optimal network performance. Identify trends, diagnose abnormal behaviour, and proactively address issues across customer and internal systems.
- Security Assessments & Continuous Improvement: Stay current with evolving cyber-security threats and ensure all managed environments maintain strong security postures. Identify vulnerabilities, escalate risks where necessary, and provide clear remediation recommendations.
- Wireless Auditing & Deployment: Conduct wireless assessments using specialist tools to evaluate existing deployments and plan new solutions. Translate customer requirements into effective wireless designs, including site assessments, equipment specification, and deployment oversight.
- Technical Support: Act as an escalation point for complex network issues and high-severity incidents within the project deployment and service desk functions. Take ownership of support cases from initial report through to successful resolution, following departmental standards.
- Pre-Sales Engagement & Consultancy: Assist with pre-sales activities, including on-site audits, health checks, and solution validation. Offer expert technical guidance on the feasibility and design of proposed solutions. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, solution architects, project managers and senior stakeholders.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, diagrams, and knowledge-base articles to support internal teams and customers.

Experience Required
Person Specification
- Essential: Experience implementing and supporting enterprise-grade networks (Minimum of 4 years). Knowledge of routing, switching, firewalls and network security technologies. Hands-on experience with major vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Meraki, Aruba or Fortinet. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills in large-scale and complex environments. Experience in network architecture, incident management, and project delivery.
- Desirable: Network certifications such as CCNA, CCNP or equivalent. Experience with cloud networking (Azure/AWS/GCP). Automation and scripting expertise (Python, Ansible, Terraform). Experience with SD-WAN, SASE, Zero Trust or network virtualisation technologies.
