As an Applied Mathematician at Riverlane, you’ll use applied mathematics and modelling to inform the design of our quantum error correction (QEC) system at the core of next-generation quantum computers. In this brand new role, you will support architectural decisions by answering practical quantitative questions around how information flows through data pipelines, how uncertainty affects performance, and whether an approach will scale to future QEC systems.
- Draw upon your mathematical and software skills to build mathematical and computational models, test assumptions, and compare model outputs with real system data to improve the process.
- Estimate performance, process times, and system behaviour under uncertainty.
- Refine models over time by comparison with real system data.
- Produce clear, practical recommendations based on quantitative analysis.
Strong coding skills, ideally in Python, R or similar.
- Confidence working with real system data to validate and improve model outputs.
- Experience working with, or alongside, hardware systems or have an understanding of how software interacts with physical components.
