About us

Riverlane’s mission is to master quantum error correction (QEC) and unlock a new age of human progress. From advances in material and climate science, to complex chemistry simulation for new drug design, quantum computers will help humanity solve some of its most important challenges. But without QEC, the industry’s defining technical challenge, such breakthroughs can never be achieved. Riverlane is the world leader in QEC technology. QEC is a complex problem that requires a range of skills, talent and passion. Having raised more than $125M in funding to date to accelerate our cutting‑edge R&D in quantum error correction (QEC), Riverlane partners with many of the world’s leading quantum hardware providers and government agencies to make fault‑tolerant quantum computing a reality. We’re making remarkable progress and growing fast.

About the role

Deltakit is Riverlane’s open‑source software toolkit for quantum error correction, designed to help researchers and partners build, test and run QEC at scale. This role is about getting Deltakit into the hands of the people it’s built for and making it genuinely useful once it’s there. You’ll work closely with researchers, educators and partners across the QEC community, helping them use Deltakit in practice. That could mean running a workshop, speaking at a conference, sitting with someone to debug an issue or helping a team understand how Deltakit fits into their workflow. It might also mean building or spec‑ing the parts that don’t exist yet. A big part of the role is being out there. You’ll represent Riverlane at events, build relationships, and become a familiar face in the quantum community. At the same time, you’ll stay close to the product, provide structured feedback to the product and engineering teams and directly influence how Deltakit evolves. It’s a mix of physics, software and people. We think it suits someone with a strong technical background, who’s comfortable coding and enjoys working directly with others. You don’t need everything to be perfectly defined. You’re happy to figure things out as you go, solve problems on the fly, and get something working when it matters. If you enjoy explaining complex ideas clearly, building relationships with technical users, and helping people get unstuck, you’ll likely feel at home here.

What you will do

  • Run workshops and give talks to introduce Deltakit to the QEC community, from small group sessions to larger conferences and events.
  • Identify opportunities to get Deltakit in front of the right people and take the lead on making them happen.
  • Support users directly, helping researchers, educators and partners troubleshoot issues, debug problems and get the most out of the toolkit.
  • Work with key partners on integrations, helping Deltakit fit into existing workflows and systems.
  • Write technical content such as blog posts, tutorials and example‑driven guides to help users understand and adopt Deltakit.
  • Build practical demos and tutorials that show how Deltakit can be used, both for the website and for live sessions.
  • Stay active in the community, engaging regularly and building trust with users over time on platforms such as Discord and Github, running office hours, and being a go‑to point of contact for users.
  • Gather feedback from users and feed it back into the product and engineering teams, helping shape how Deltakit evolves.
  • Travel to conferences, workshops and partner sites as needed.

What we need

  • A background in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Comfortable writing and working with Python, and able to debug real user issues in a practical and hands‑on way.
  • Able to explain technical ideas clearly to different audiences, whether that’s 1:1 support, a small workshop, or a larger talk.
  • Experience working with researchers, engineers or technical users, and an understanding of how they approach problems.
  • Strong communication skills and a personable, approachable style. You enjoy working with people and building relationships.
  • Comfortable working across a mix of tasks, from user support and demos to talks and community engagement.
  • Experience running workshops or similar hands‑on sessions.
  • Experience engaging with open‑source or technical communities.
  • Willingness to travel to conferences, workshops, and partner sites as needed, including within Europe and the US.

What can you expect from us

  • A comprehensive benefits package that includes an annual bonus plan, private medical insurance, life insurance, and a contributory pension scheme.
  • Equity, so that our team can share in the long‑term success of Riverlane.
  • 28 days annual leave, plus bank holidays and enhanced family leave.
  • A diverse work environment that brings together experts in many fields (including software and hardware development, quantum information theory, physics and maths) and over 20 different nationalities.
  • A learning environment that encourages individual, team and company growth and development, including a regular programme of learning events and training and conference budgets.
