Work with us at Riverford, and join a thriving employee‑owned business as a Production Operative. Be part of an inclusive and friendly production team. More than just a veg box – Riverford is mad about organic veg. It is at the core of everything we do. We grow, pack, and deliver organic vegetables to around 70,000 homes across the UK every week. This takes loads of brilliant people – working here makes you a co‑owner, since Riverford is employee‑owned. Success means much more than just profits; we want a place people enjoy coming to work and a business our co‑owners are proud of.
Benefits:
- 33 days holiday pro rata (including bank holidays)
- 30% off veg boxes and our online shop
- Generous company pension scheme
- Annual profit share (at least 10% of all our profits split equally between all co‑owners)
- All deliveries are working toward 100% electric vans, with diesel vans being swapped out to reduce emissions.
This role is a permanent contract, 23.5 hours per week – working every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, inclusive of Bank Holidays. Location: Wash Farm, Buckfastleigh, Devon, TQ11 0JU. Pay: £13.90 per hour. Saturday’s paid at time and a half.
What you’ll be doing:
This role is primarily working in a small team within the Multihead fridge packing our delicate leafy items and varieties of beans and peas, and on our SORMA netter, which we use to put all our lovely citrus (and sometimes other items!) into netted bags. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that our customers receive the highest quality, whilst prioritising safety and maintaining operational efficiency. You’ll have the opportunity to be multi‑skilled in this area. The environment is temperature controlled and can be damp, but we will provide you with the correct clothing to be warm and dry. The SORMA and Multihead are large and intricate machines, and we will provide full training in all roles that keep the machine running.
What we’re looking for:
- Previous experience of working in a production or warehousing environment.
- Comfortable working in a cold environment.
- Ability to lift and manoeuvre crates of produce and veg boxes.
- Good communication skills and ability to speak and understand English to a level that enables you to comprehend instructions and the daily requirements of the role.
- Accurate and efficient.
At Riverford, we value quality service and our production team plays a key role in our mission. If you’re looking for a job where you can make a difference and join a friendly, supportive team, we’d love to hear from you!
