We’re looking for ambitious, confident, and motivated people to join our Sales & Marketing team as we continue expanding our live event campaigns across the UK. This is a hands-on role where you’ll gain practical experience in customer engagement, brand representation, sales, marketing, and campaign delivery. You’ll be working directly with the public at event locations, helping our clients increase brand awareness, build customer relationships, and create memorable face-to-face experiences. No previous sales or marketing experience is required. We provide full training, ongoing mentorship, and development opportunities for people who are ready to learn, grow, and take ownership of their progression. This is an on-site, events-based role — not door-to-door. Ability to commute to our office is essential for the role!

About River

At River, we specialise in face-to-face customer acquisition through live event campaigns. We work with well-known UK clients, helping them connect with customers through professional, engaging, and high-energy brand representation. Our focus is simple: create strong customer experiences, deliver results for our clients, and develop people from within. Our new South London office gives us the space to grow, train, collaborate, and build the next phase of River.

The Role

As a Sales & Marketing Assistant, you’ll support the delivery of client campaigns across pop-up events and promotional spaces. You’ll be involved in customer conversations, brand awareness, campaign activity, and sales support. You’ll also receive coaching in communication, customer behaviour, sales strategy, leadership, and campaign performance. This role is ideal for someone who wants more than a routine job and is ready to build transferable business skills in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent client brands professionally at live event campaigns
  • Engage with customers in a confident, friendly, and informative way
  • Share key information about our clients’ products, services, campaigns, and values
  • Support the set-up and organisation of event spaces
  • Help increase brand awareness through positive face-to-face interactions
  • Work with the team to achieve campaign goals and customer engagement targets
  • Attend training sessions, meetings, and development workshops
  • Learn practical sales, marketing, and customer acquisition skills
  • Shadow experienced team members to understand leadership, campaign coordination, and performance management
  • Contribute ideas and feedback to help improve campaign delivery

What We’re Looking For

  • Confident and comfortable speaking with new people
  • Positive, professional, and self-motivated
  • Open to learning, coaching, and constructive feedback
  • Able to adapt in a fast-paced event environment
  • Goal-focused and willing to take ownership of your development
  • A strong communicator with good interpersonal skills
  • Organised, reliable, and proactive
  • Able to work well as part of a team
  • Interested in sales, marketing, events, business development, or leadership
  • Previous experience in sales, customer service, hospitality, retail, promotions, events, or marketing can be useful, but it is not required.

What River Offers

  • Full training and mentorship from day one
  • A clear development path based on performance and growth
  • Hands-on experience in sales, marketing, events, and customer engagement
  • Training in communication, customer behaviour, brand representation, and campaign delivery
  • A bright new South London office environment
  • Professional development workshops and networking opportunities
  • Optional team nights, travel opportunities, holidays, and city breaks
  • Performance-based incentives
  • A supportive team culture where effort, progress, and ideas are recognised

Progression at River

At River, we believe in promoting from within. As you develop, there may be opportunities to progress into wider areas of the business, including team leadership, campaign coordination, recruitment, client liaison, marketing, social media, and operations.
