We are looking for a surveyor to join our Property Team, reporting to the Head of Property, to ensure we get the best from our store portfolio, helping to drive profitability for the business. We are a small team and our ethos is very much to support each other, with a flexible outlook to manage the challenges that arise from over 150 stores in the UK and Ireland, in shopping centres, retail parks and high streets.

We are looking for someone with drive, commercial acumen and an ability to work at a fast pace to keep up with the culture of the rest of the business but always keeping a close eye on the detail. A natural inclination to collaborate is fundamental, including sharing market information that you acquire through your network or own investigations.

PROPERTY LEAD ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively overseeing the store estate in line with River Island's Property Strategy, negotiating terms for new stores, lease renewals, rent reviews and regears directly with landlords and their agents, as well as working with our own external agents.
  • Working with RI Finance to appraise deals and the ultimate profitability of any one store.
  • Working with our in‑house Legal Team and external lawyers to complete transactions in a timely and cost‑effective manner.
  • Working with the Shopfitting team to facilitate the smooth completion of refits and the fitting out of new stores.
  • Manage relationships with landlords and property management companies.
  • Managing our Rating consultants and supporting the Property Management Coordinator in her dealings with them.
  • Supporting the Property Management Coordinator in her dealings with our Service Charge Consultants.

REQUIREMENTS

  • MRICS
  • 3-5 years of post‑qualification experience either with a national retailer or in private practice
  • Problem‑solving and negotiation abilities
  • Valid driving licence
  • Excellent communication skills
