Our Design Team delivers stand‑out, affordable fashion with the unique style and touches that underpin the River Island handwriting.

As a Junior Designer, you’ll influence the direction for your categories and be accountable for the full development cycle of products for inclusion in the final ranges, representing key trends and driving commercial results.

  • Key Accountabilities
  • Develop prints from concept to completion that represent key trends and commercial opportunities.
  • Use a sound understanding of fabric, engineering, fit and quality to produce designs to a high technical standard with a high first‑sample hit rate for the market level.
  • Leverage broad market and customer awareness and research, and a thorough understanding of the River Island brand, to input ideas that influence Product Development discussions addressing key trends and opportunities.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of sales history, sales and margin targets and range plans for your area of accountability to align designs with commercial objectives.
  • Develop relationships and collaborate with buying counterparts, suppliers and fabric mills to identify opportunities for newness.
  • Key Experience Required
  • Previous experience as an Assistant Designer or equivalent.
  • Qualifications or studies relevant to design.
  • Must be able to provide a portfolio of design work.
