River Cottage is a multi-faceted business with a restaurant, cookery school, accommodation and an events space hosting weddings, parties, and corporate events. This role of HR Manager will report to the Chief Executive and will be responsible for managing all aspects of HR within the business, including payroll, as well as coordinating and overseeing staff training, health and safety.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the recruitment of new staff, assisting the recruiting manager to ensure brand alignment, and collating CVs
- Provide up-to-date advice and assistance to the senior management team regarding employment law within the workplace
- Manage recruitment advertising
- Ensuring that the onboarding process is comprehensive and is completed for all new starters
- Contract administration, including preparation of offer letters, contracts of employment, and future changes to terms
- Maintaining the HR systems by ensuring all data, personnel files, and all documentation is uploaded and up to date
- Ensuring Managers carry out all relevant staff training and quarterly staff appraisals
- Recording all Training and Health & Safety records, and logging all policy renewals
- Oversight of EHO and HSE across the site
Experience with monthly payroll is desirable
What we’re looking for
- An experienced HR Manager used to advising senior managers and confident being the sole point of contact for all HR related matters
- Up-to-date knowledge on employment law
- Ability to support managers in performance managing their team where required, and dealing with any grievances
- Experience overseeing training within a company, and ensuring renewals are completed promptly
- Experience of managing payroll with hourly staff and shift staff working unusual working patterns is desirable
- Good Excel skills to manipulate and analyse large data
- Highly organised approach and strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good planning and prioritising skills, and able to work to strict deadlines
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Flexibility to support workload and business requirements outside of standard working patterns when required
Work Schedule
This is a permanent part-time role of 25 hours per week across 5 days (Mon- Fri). The position is hybrid, combining remote working with time on-site at River Cottage HQ.
