Operations and Automation Associate

Rivan Industries is a synthetic fuel company designed to decarbonise heavy industry. We aim to make synthetic fuel cheaper than fossil fuels and sustain life on earth by keeping CO2 locked underground. We design and manufacture modular synthetic fuel plants consisting of a DAC system, an Alkaline Electrolyser, and a Sabatier Reactor, vertically integrating with off-grid DC solar and the European gas-grid. Here’s our entire business plan . We’ve recently deployed the UK’s largest synthetic fuel plant and are planning to 1000x this scale in the next 2 years. We’re looking for an Operations and Automations Associate to work directly with our CEO and Operations Lead to streamline operations across our core business areas: Engineering, Finance, Recruitment and General Operations. We have one single goal – reduce the levelised cost of methane to the point drilling stops and companies mine the sky for carbon. The role:

• Day 1 Ownership and Execution
  • Of key operational tasks across:
• General Operations (Day-day factory running, contracted trades & utilities management, staff organisation, etc.).
• Automation
• Architect, build and run a suite of scraping and automation processes (using code or no-code tools like Bardeen or Zapier) for:
• Engineering. Building our entire internal project management and operational task workflows).
• General Operations (Manual BAU activities).
• Recruitment. LinkedIn scraping, tracking job listings and growing our Engineering Europe database, optimising application workflows.

The things that are important to us:

• Execution history. What have you built or designed before where you had the responsibility? Side projects are great.
• Reasoning by first principles . Can you deconvolute complex scenarios into their foundational truths or parts?
• Urgency . We don’t have time to wait, are you comfortable with a high-degree of risk and pressure to move fast.
• Airtable.
• No-code scraping tools (Bardeen).
• Development of basic web-automation processes (Zapier, Make).
• Operational experience in a VC-backed startup.

• Where you went to school / where you have worked previously.

Specifics:

• £35-50K Salary depending on experience.
• Significant share options as part of the early team.
• In-person work at our HQ in Bermondsey, South-East London.
• Extensive relocation support, including £6000 per year extra to live close to our HQ.
